Let’s talk hair! First off, let me say POSTPARTUM HAIRLOSS😖 Since Ivy Lee was about 4 months old, I started losing ridiculous amounts of hair.. Like to the point I was starting to get bald spots! Yes, bald spots. Let’s add that to the list of things that us women go through after having a baby. We are already sleep deprived, hormonal, and have a few extra pounds on us.. Now let’s add bald spots.. So, I started taking my prenatal vitamins religiously! Hoping they would help prevent further loss and help with new growth. I’ll link the ones I take here.. I can definitely tell they’ve helped! But what I really wanted to share was this new product I found. BioCell Liquid Collagen. And guys IT👏🏼IS 👏🏼GOOD!! It not only supports hair growth but helps with joints and improves skin. Win! Win! I’ve been using it everyday for about a month now and I can already see new growth! It is kind of pricey but if you are struggling with hair loss it is definitely worth the money! Also, I am pretty sure new customers get $10 off. You are supposed to take 2 TBS a day but my hair was growing soo fast that I cut it down to 1 TBS day.. Which makes the bottle last a little longer as well!

Now on to hair products!

Shampoo and Conditioner

While taking cosmetology classes all through high school and then getting my cosmetology license.. One of the first things you learn is, if you want your color to last, then you need to be using a shampoo that won’t strip your hair. Matrix Biolage Shampoo and Conditioner...and Redken Color extend shampoo and conditioner are my go to’s. I just alternate between these two.. No reason to why I alternate, I just like to switch things up. Yes, I know it’s more expensive than drugstore brands but my theory on this is.. Why pay so much money to get your hair done.. Just to strip the color out when washing your hair?! Do yourself a favor and spend the extra money.. You won’t regret it!

Hair mask

Let’s talk hair mask. I tend to have dry hair and I’m a firm believer that mask are a necessity. Now Olaplex has my heart. I LOVE their products! Even if you don’t color or bleach your hair, using Olaplex has its benefits. Olaplex Hair Perfector No. 3 will aid in protecting and repairing broken bonds, leaving hair in good, healthy condition again. I usually apply this about once a week at night and sleep with it in my hair. If I don’t have time, I apply it first thing when I get in the shower and leave it on about 10 minutes. So by the time I shave and wash, it’s time to rinse. Then I follow it by shampooing and conditioning. I’ll add that this is a small bottle. So within a few uses your having to reorder which can be expensive. Which brings me to another good one that I have recently started using. The It's A 10 Miracle Hair Mask. You definitely get more bang for your buck with this one. The price point is better if your looking for something that last awhile longer. The only downfall that I’ve experienced personally with this one is it that it makes my roots feel like I didn’t get all the conditioner out.. Which I could have very well not washed it all out... My roots tend to get oily fast.. So I think I’m going to only apply this to my ends from now on. Which everyone is different so you may need it all over!

Styling Products

First thing I put in my hair before styling, is the Olaplex Bond Smoother. N°6 strengthens, moisturizes, and speeds up blow-dry times. Excellent for all hair types, including colored and chemically treated hair, and eliminates frizz and flyaways for up to 72 hours. It’s the holy grail of my favorite products!!

Next is Olaplex N°7 Bonding Oil. Dramatically increases shine, softness, and color vibrancy.

N°7 minimizes flyaways and frizz, while providing UV/heat protection of up to 450°F/232°C. I apply this while my hair is still wet. A little goes a long way!! Also, after I’m done styling I go back and apply this to my ends. It leaves them shiny.. Like I said, my ends tend to be very dry and brittle!

Now this step I only do sometimes. Heat protectant spray.. The bonding oil has a heat protectant in it so I don’t really worry all the time about using another one. But if I feel like adding it in there, I use the one by Kenra. It’s a professional platinum heat spray.. gives thermal protection with long lasting hold. Smells amazing!! Which is a plus!

After blow drying and styling, I go back in with the bonding oil over my ends like I had mentioned above... Then I add texture spray. It gives my hair that grit it needs. Creates the messy look for me. If I didn’t use this my hair would lifeless. I’ve tried quite a few and this one is my favorite! OGX dry texturizing spray. Gives my hair the shape, volume, and structure it needs!

Dry shampoo

Now I only wash my hair about once a week. So that calls for A LOT of dry shampoo! I have tried soooo MANY!!! And I always go back to my favorites! Which is Not Your Mothers and Amika! They are both great options so you can’t go wrong with either. Not Your Mothers does have a better price point so if your wanting to save some money- this is the way to go. If your wanting to splurge a little then I suggest Amika. Which smells amazing!!

So as of now, this is all the current products I use on my hair. I do try different things all the time and as I do, I will share those with you if I find something that works better!

Xoxo, Tonya
